Prayer draws us closer to God and is a means by which we can praise Him. Our fellowship with Him is a privilege and the bible encourages us to use it to strengthen our relationship with Him. We know that Jesus spent time in prayer with the Father.
“Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!”Psalm 4:1
God gives us prayer to defeat evil, help heal the sick, keep us from sin, bless others and ourselves, strengthen the believer, accomplish the impossible, for peace, to reveal His will and to glorify His name….just to name a few reasons.

Not sure what to do for someone or something you care about?
You can certainly “stand in the gap” in prayer. Standing in the gap is a form of intercessory prayer where our prayers bridge the gap between God and people who are cut off from God’s helping presence. When we stand in the gap in prayer, we pray for God’s help, mercy, intervention and/or forgiveness on the behalf of individuals, groups of people or nations.
How to Stand in the Gap in Prayer
Has God put it on your heart to stand in the gap for someone or for something? Did you ever think…it’s so big…what can I do? Your prayers can make a huge difference!
So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.Ezekiel 22:30
There may be GAPS in a person’s understanding of God, a lack of faith or maybe a misuse of power. Perhaps it is anger, resentment or unforgiveness in their hearts that are keeping holding them back from all God offers. Maybe it’s addictions, illness, oppression or prejudice.
Ask God for His help in the resolution. Pray bold prayers, reminding God of His promises in the bible. And always be persistent.
